DFS, the top sofa maker and retailer in the U.K., is deploying the Fluent Commerce order management systems to support its home fulfillment program as well as its efforts to grow its non-sofa business.
The technology, according to a press release, should also streamline the retail experience for the 50-year-old retailer that operates 118 stores in the U.K. and the Republic of Ireland.
“Fluent Order Management is a key component of our strategic growth plans,” Dean Darby, head of central systems and application development at DFS, said in the release. “It will allow us to use third party logistics companies to deliver our beds and mattresses and stocked items — an area of the business which we are looking to grow significantly over the next five years. “
The solution will provide DFS a single view of inventory, allowing the retailer to implement return from anywhere and fulfill from anywhere. Customers will be able to see improved stock levels and availability when placing orders online.
In addition, DFS will be able to scale up when demand increases to provide a more efficient and informative delivery process for the customer. Wunderman Thompson is leading the integration of the solution into DFS’s existing architecture to ensure a smooth and seamless transition.
