It’s finally laser season! Navigating your options when it comes to laser skin treatments can be daunting if you don’t know which will get the job done best. Depending on your skin type, skin care needs and desired results, you may be better suited for one treatment over another. But not to worry, that’s where we come in! The experts at Greenspring Medical Aesthetics are here for you every step of the way, offering guidance on which laser will best suit your needs, how many treatments you’ll need and a timeline for when you’ll see optimal results.
Prior to your in-depth consultation with our team, here’s a quick look at which laser treatments may be right for you, based on your unique skin concerns:
For pigmentation irregularities… IPL photofacial
If dark spots, sunspots, age spots, freckles, redness or other areas in need of tonal improvement are your main concern, IPL photofacials are the gold standard for removing unwanted pigmentation. IPL isn’t a laser — instead, it’s an intense pulse of light which non-invasively heats and breaks up excess melanin in the skin without causing damage to its surface. Since IPL doesn’t break the skin, there’s no downtime involved. On average, three to six treatment sessions performed in monthly intervals are needed to achieve optimal results. Noticeable results can appear after the first treatment with long-lasting improvements after a series of treatments.
For skin texture concerns… Fractional laser resurfacing
Hands down, fractional lasers are the best when it comes to softening deep lines and wrinkles and improving skin texture. Fractional lasers work by delivering light in an array of microbeams that penetrate the dermis without harming the surrounding tissue. Your body’s natural healing process is then stimulated to generate new, healthy skin. Results of fractional laser resurfacing include reduced fine lines and wrinkles and improvement of deeper wrinkles and acne scarring as well as repairment of sun-damaged skin on the face, neck and hands. At Greenspring, we offer three different fractional lasers, each designed for various depths of treatment to meet your specific needs and goals.
For hair reduction… Laser hair removal
If you agree that it’s finally time to turn in the razor for a longer-lasting hair reduction method, then laser hair removal is exactly what you need. Using the most cutting-edge technologies, we can treat all ranges of hair and skin types on almost any area of the body, including the face, neck, chest, legs and back. During laser hair removal, the laser’s light energy is absorbed by the pigment in the hair and then converted to heat. This damages the hair follicles and inhibits future hair growth. Since hair can only be effectively treated during certain growth cycles, multiple treatment sessions are needed to see optimal hair-free results. Typically, we recommend five to seven sessions spaced four to six weeks apart.
